ABOUT ME: My name is Richa & I have worked with British Airways for 5 years as an AirHostess. Being an International Flight Air Hostess (people also call me a Flight Attendant), I got the opportunities to travel globally and meet the roots and cultures of different countries. However, I started my career working with Jet Airways as an In-Flight Attendant and worked with them for almost 7 years.
First of all, let us understand the difference between the Cabin Crew, Flight Steward and Air Hostess.
Male Sir Hostess are known as Flight Steward.
Female Cabin Crew is Known as AirHostess.
Both Male Sir Hostess and Air Hostess work in a team and collectively known as Cabin Crew.

Air Hostess Work

It is not only about traveling the world, there are some serious work involved in this job, which need to be done on time and with 100% perfection. Since, we are the part of the service industry, our prime focus is the customers satisfaction and brand promotion and improvement. From collecting boarding passes, giving safety instruction and making other announcements, serving food, handling irate customers and many other.
Sometimes, even a small duration flight can make your day worse and a long distance flight will give you chance to smile. Irrespective to any condition, you have to keep a smile on your face and attend the passengers.
You don’t have to perform all the inflight tasks. Every airhostess are assigned to a different work. Airlines just want you to perform them correctly. Yes, sometimes you have to work extra in case to support your fallow air hostess.
Irrespective, to the flight experience at the end of the day we get a special stay at 3 star and even at 5 star hotels to relax. Hotel stays actually refill us with more energy to start our new day with a smile.

How to Become an Air Hostess?
During an interview, an AirHostess are judged on multiple factors such as: Personality, Qualification, Presentation etc. BUT, there is a minimum Air hostess Criteria for selection, which you need to clear.

Air Hostess Eligibility
To become an airhostess, you need to have a minimum qualification of:
Educational: 10+2 (Sr. Secondary)
Age: Between 18 – 25 years
Height: 157.5 cms (on Tow)
Color Complex: Do not matter much
Weight: Proportionate to Height
Eyesight: 6/6 (If your eyesight is weak, no problem, just wear contact lens).
Experience: Any prior experience or any professionally done Air Hostess Course will give you an advantage over other candidates.
Air Hostess Salary
Well, it may vary from airline to airline. If you are hired for an International Flight definitely, you will get paid far better than an Airhostess of Domestic Airline.
Also, Major of the Airlines prefers to pay you in their respective country currency.
For Example: I get paid over 2000 GBP per month (all included). If I convert GBP into INR (Indian Rupess) then as per the currency exchange 1GBP = 90 INR (Indian Rupees).
So, in Indian currency my salary is 90 x 2000 = 1,80,000/- Rupees per month.
They directly pay into your account in GBP and your bank convert it into INR and credit it into your account. (NO, need to put your head in this calculation, you will see your salary into your account on time, it is just for information).

Domestic Airlines, Flight Attendants are getting between Rs.30,000 – Rs.40,000 per month and air hostess with 2-3 years of working experience are getting between Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 75,000 per month where else Fresher Air Hostess in International flights are getting over 60,000 per month & between Rs. 2-3 lakhs for 2-3 year working experience holders.
